Crochet Daisies in Venice Beach

Monday, September 23, 2013

I decided to go simple today and just wear a mini crochet dress that I snagged at the LF sale the weekend before. I wore tan shorts underneath to give an optical illusion effect and so that the crocheted bits could be seen better. While my Balenciaga Cut Out boots were not my first choice for this outfit, I thought I should wear flats while I explored the canals at Venice Beach. I consider my style to be very beachy and boho, but I still want to maintain a tomboy vibe so I'm glad I wore the boots to give my outfit an edgier feel. I also brought along my favorite One Teaspoon cape, which is the least photogenic article of clothing in my closet. Sometimes it looks really cool in the wind, but somehow I never end up using the shots I'm wearing it for my outfit posts.

Tonjour, Bokyo!

It's been a while since I've shopped on Nasty Gal. I went through this period in college where I checked the site almost every single day, so much to the point that I probably knew the prices and availability of everything. It's like when you Reddit so much that all the links are purple, yet you keep going back hoping that some blue will pop up. You feel me on this? Anyone?? Nevermind.

So.. anyway. I gave Nasty Gal a break for a little while and when I finally went back it was pretty much all new stuff! Woo hoo, so I bought this cute little skirt and a rattle snake print blouse that I had been eyeing for a while (Okay, fine. I cheated a couple times and peeked).

Serenity in the City

Saturday, September 14, 2013

I have always wanted to move to Orange County after I graduated college since I consider myself a beach city girl, but ever since I started working in Los Angeles, I have slowly become addicted to the city. There is just so much that goes on here, I feel like I would be missing out on a lot of opportunities if I moved away somewhere else. Spending time in LA has really helped me focus on my future and while there are a lot of distractions here, it is definitely the place I need to be right now.

More random chit chat next time!

Buttery Tie-Dye

Thursday, September 12, 2013

Finally, a day in Los Angeles cool enough for a top like this. And not just any old top with regular sleeves, it comes attached with my favorite bell sleeves. I knotted the front to turn it into a crop top so I feel less.. yellow. I also like the subtle tie-dye print since tie-dye can get a little intense sometimes. I bought this top from Gypsy Warrior and it's by Australian label, Lenni. They make the cutest clothes ever so I couldn't resist buying two other items. My favorite part about Lenni, besides being from Australia and all, is their prices! Whoa, everything was under $100.. which is insanity because I feel like I'm breaking the bank everything I want something from Shakuhachi or One Teaspoon.

Am I the last person on the planet to discover Gypsy Warrior's never ending 20% off promo code? (It's ILOVEGW, btw). Who knows what damage I could have done if I discovered this sooner.

2 Shades of Grey

Shop Akira Draped Bust Maxi Dress // Dolce Vita Jules Boots // Shop Akira Jackie Geo Stud Bag // Pura Vida Hipster Beanie // Low Luv X Erin Wasson Crescent Moon Pendant // H&M Rings // Brandy Melville Bralette

I have so many maxi dresses, but this one is easily my favorite plain one. Words that come to mind when I think of it- slinky, thick, soft, lush, and expensive. This one has two layers sewn together so I don't have to worry about people seeing my underwear selection in the sunlight.

As hot as it is in Southern California and as much as I want the weather to cool down, I'm a little scared of how fast winter is approaching. I love layers and I guess wearing shorts every day is getting a little old, but I fear the season of Uggs of jeans. Until then, it's slits and cut outs for me!

Back to the Real World

Sunday, September 1, 2013

It has been so hot lately in LA, but it's nice that it's a three day weekend so we can all relax. It still hasn't registered in my mind that I don't have work tomorrow, but it will be super sweet to sleep in an extra day.

Speaking of work and three day weekends, I am finally employed as of 3 weeks ago and it's the best feeling ever! Earlier this year, I quit my job and left the mortgage industry to pursue a career in something that involved a little more creativity. I started this blog since I had no experience in fashion and wanted some sort of journal to express my passion for clothes. I also applied for an internship this year at my favorite clothing company ever, which is so crazy because I never pictured myself being an intern after college. It has been 8 months since I left my old job and started myblog. It took a lot longer than I expected, but those are two decisions I am extremely happy I made because now I am working for I company I love.

Have an awesome day off tomorrow (=
